If she had the chance to grow up in the music and the Jazz, Jakye Renard didn’t begin her career before the age of 24 years. Her parents, musicians, wanted to protect her from the show bizz world by misadvising her to this career … ,

It was a lost effort, because she shall make an internationally recognized career.

Very quickly, Jakye will be noticed by Henry Seghers, Leader of the Big Band of the RTBF. She will be committed in the orchestra as a singer and will belong to all the great events.

She took part in many RTBF TV broadcasts such as: « Air de… » de Nicolas Résimont, « La caméra d’argent », « Chansons à la carte » (24 services over two years), etc,…

She recorded two 45 turns at E.M.I and DECCA.

She became a second place during the “international contest of the best composer of the French song”, Salle Bobino in Paris, with a music of  Jak Dieval and words of Michel Rivegauche (the writer of Edith Piaf).

We saw her thereafter in Italy, where she collaborated with the pianist of Dutch jazz, Jack Van Poll, as a matter of fact for a concert in the cultural centre of Turin, which will be filmed by the Italian television .

She took part in many jazz festivals and she showed up in Holland and Belgium Jazz clubs.

Her meeting with Monty Alexander will lead to the recording of a LP in Geneva, with: ED Thygpen (drums), Reggie Johnson (Bass) and Robert Thomas Jr (Percussions).

In 1989, she records a CD with the Trio Johan Clement.

During six consecutive years, she occurs with the Jazz Rally of Brussels, in the Sheraton and makes about thirty concerts in Brussels’' S Jazz Club on the ´´Grand Place´´.

In 1990, she decided to settle definitively in France, on the ´´Cote d´Azur´´.

We found her in various Jazz emissions on the great chains of the French television.

She represented Belgium during the European Jazz festival of Cannes.

She occurred during various concerts in Canne, in large hotels or in congresses.

Jakye Renard will occur as a star during the 50ème anniversary of the liberation, with the“Navy Internationals”, in the Open-air theatre of Villefranche.

The retransmissions will be ensured by large French National chains.

She still occurs regularly in the Jazz clubs of the ´´Provence Cote d´Azur´´ area .

Exceptionally Jakye Renard will be the guest of the New Sadi Big Band, in the Casino of Namur, this Sunday November 8, 2009, from 13:00 to 16:00.
